female rageeeee. oh this movie made my blood boil in a way a film hasn't in a long long time. even though my scholarship thinks mostly about feminist fabric/textile art, the emotional texture of this film informs all the feelings that drive my research— the gendered violence that is protected by silence, and the complexities of women who are often the ones insisting upon silence themselves. what outlets exist for women to creatively express autonomy and try to protect their beloveds through the limited power and autonomy patriarchy affords them, and at what point do the women themselves have to be held culpable too?
